Effective use of pindone and 1080

When it comes to rabbit control ‘near enough’ often isn’t ‘good enough’ for effective results.

A new publication presents the science behind ‘best practice’ rabbit baiting programs to ensure they are efficient and effective, and have least risk to non-target animals. The practices aim to get maximum uptake of viable baits by rabbits for optimal return on effort, and those practices also minimise the risk of non-target species being exposed to baits.

Baits laced with pindone or 1080 are an important component of integrated rabbit control programs, where different methods are used in concert with each other. Understanding the science behind their use will help address concerns about their application and make the reasons behind label instructions and recommended practices easy to understand.
